Captain after his rescue
Captain was rescued from Animal Control on what would have been his last day of life.  He is a GREAT dog, very sweet and friendly with everyone.  He likes to talk to you as most husky's do and now smiles all day long since he found his true "Forever Home"...

Kim and Jackie,
Wow it's been a while since I've last updated you on Captain. He's doing very well. I have been working with him and trying new commands and he's getting more and more obedient everyday. He's very smart. I make sure we go for walks everyday, he eats well, he has gotten a check-up recently and he's been updated on vaccines, and he is a playful bundle of joy. I have recently also added a new addition to the family, Captain now has a cat to hang out with. They get along extremely well and they are literally like brothers. It's hilarious actually. I've included a picture of him with his santa hat on and christmas mint bandana. He says "Happy Holidays Kim and Jackie!" I talk to Jen Hickerson whenever I can. How has it been going with adoptions lately? Hope you all have a merry christmas and a happy new year. We will keep in touch.
Sincerely,
Kristen & Captain :D

Dear Kim and Jackie,
It's Kristen, Brett, and Captain. We're very sorry it's been so long since we've contacted you about Captain. Captain is doing great (as usual) and we've sent you a few pictures of him enjoying his first snow with us. He's a big ball of energy and very funny. He's getting better with listening and coming when he's called. He ran out of the yard the other day and he came right to me the first time I called him, I was very impressed. He can also sit and lay down very well now also. We're trying to teach him how to shake and roll over but he hasn't quite caught on yet. I (Kristen) spoke to Jen Hickerson about a month ago. I didn't know she had a myspace page, she's pretty cool.
How are the adoptions going for you? I read your newsletters and it seems that everything is going well for HopeRescues which is great. I wish you all the best of luck with your adoptions and you guys are doing such a great thing for these helpless animals. I'll have to bring Captain by for a visit when it gets warm again. I'm sure he would love to see you.
Once again we apoligize for it being such a long time with no communication. School is really taking a toll on me and Brett is being deployed for a year in another month. We have our hands full but Captain gives us great company, we're so glad to have him around.
We will write again soon before Brett leaves, take care.
Sincerely,
Kristen, Brett, and Captain

Hi Kim and Jackie,
It's been a while since we've given you an update on how Captain is doing, we apoligize. He's doing wonderful and we're glad that we decided to keep him, again. Especially since Brett is being deployed with the Army. I will need Captain with me greatly. Captain is getting better with following rules and he's not so wild anymore now that we discovered new ways to keep him tame. He's really a lot of joy and we love having him around.
Again we apoligize for not giving you an update earlier, it's just that things have been kinda crazy. Is everything going good for you two? How's the adoptions going this summer?
We'll be sure to write again soon, take care.
-Kristen, Brett, and Captain

Hi Kim and Jackie,
Sorry it's been so long.  I've attached some pics of Captain from over the past few weeks. We gave him a bath today and attached a picture of that along with him sunning himsef out in the yard. He's such a great dog. We had to buy him a kiddie pool for his baths because he's terrified of the hose. When I water flowers he runs away immediatley and hates to be squirted. The pool works great, no hose needed. I don't think he's too fond of baths anyway but he smells much better. We have to brush him everyday because he's losing so much of his winter coat and hair is everywhere. He loves his walks and playing fetch (he is actually starting to let go of the toy for me to throw it again.)
Captain is loads of fun everyday and we love him more and more everyday.  We're very glad we decided to keep him, I wouldn't have been able to give him back. We did give Captain a big hug for you and Captain says HELLO KIM AND JACKIE! ~Woof~
I'll keep you updated on him as often as I can and thank you for such a wonderful dog!

Hi Kim and Jackie,
Captain is such a great dog and we're very happy we found him. He's full of energy when I get home from school everyday which is great because I'm so excited to see him and play with him. We enjoy our walks every night and
learning new tricks. Brett is teaching new things like laying down and playing fetch and actually letting go of the toy. :D We're both enjoying him very much and he certainly a ball full of fun!
Do you have any tips for controlling his mouthiness? I know he's part lab but he does like to play bite a lot and I was wondering if there was anything to do to calm it down a little since Brett has younger nieces. We're thinking of taking him to obedience classes to train him more and walk a little better on a leash. I have taken a few pictures of him in his new house but I havn't uploaded them myet to my computer. When I e-mail Monday to let you know about the vet I'll send them. Thanks so much for a wonderful family pet, we love him very much.
-Kristen, Brett, and Captain (woof)
